Well, now you know.
One point on Yule & the Celts. It must be fairly late Celtic, the Iron Age festivals were Beltane, Imbolc, Samhain & Lughnasa, none of which ties to the winter solstice - Samhain (end of Sept) and Imbolc (roughly Candlemas) being the nearest.
