Somewhere on that website is a link to some information about the history of circumcision - in the Jewish faith, originally only the tip of the foreskin was removed until at some point men realised that they could stretch the rest of the foreskin so that no-one would know they were Jewish. The rabbis of the time then decreed that much more skin should be removed to prevent this practice.
