In yesterday's journal I mentioned that it was autumn. Technically the winter is in but in fact it's still really autumnal.
Today was a pretty perfect example of an autumn day. The wind was blowing a gale trying to dislodge what's left of the leaves on the trees and some of them are holding on for dear life. They're mostly deep reds or shades of orange now and some branches have only one or two leaves left. I suspect if those leaves gave up and fell that the wind would give over and settle itself.
Meanwhile, it's still blowing.
As the day wore on the sky changed from that pale grey associated with this time of year and the blueish/greyish/blackish clouds rolled in. At first they only brought that spitting type rain, the sort that you can walk in and could possibly avoid the raindrops altogether if it weren't for the blessed wind blowing them right into your face!
A couple of hours later and the medium sized wet raindrops arrived. They bring lots of water and make the bottom of your jeans really wet and your feet cold.
Still the wind blows.
It's the November Rain a friend sent me (again referencing yesterday's journal) - love the song, hate the weather.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the planet, we're getting the first of the official reminders about bushfire preparedness and the importance of having an evacuation plan.
Of course I've always known that the seasons were the wrong way around in the other hemisphere, but it's things like this journal that make it real for me.

We've had such a summery September and October this year that the leaves are hardly turned yet. I think the birds have gone South, though.

I've had the ludicrous situation in my flat where at night its been as much as 6 to 8 degrees colder inside than out. Poor insulation being one of the causes me thinks.

Currently very mild weather here. I cycled yesterday late afternoon and it was so mild and warm I thought it was about 15°C, but it was only 10C.
