How goes the Underguide?

Post 1

~ jwf ~ scribblo ergo sum

I haven't been online much lately and I'm wondering how you feel the Underguide propject is going? Is it a success? What kind of entries still need AggGag/CAC?

Specifically then, does the UG do (or plan to do) any 'poetry' entries? I ask because today I found another researcher had made an AggGag/CAC submisssion. A poem.

So again I explained that I was waiting to see what 'need' for CAC remains now that the UG is in place.

I have a whole issue of CAC from agcBen (made up of UG rejects I think) that's just waiting to go in smiley - thepost. And I have enough submissions (including Spike's poem) waiting on the CAC submisssion page for another issue.

I wonder if any of your other miners might have a list of UG rejects they feel guilty enough about to assemble a CAC issue.

I've been incapacitated by work for a few days, and then I discovered that my email account had been wrung inside out. I'll try to point some of the other Miners to this conversation so they can make suggestions for CAC. I think the Underguide's going well. It looked shaky when BBC sort of froze the front page of h2g2 for a few weeks there, just after the Underguide had gone live. But things seem back up to speed.

I know they've picked some poetry for the Underguide, but I haven't been scouting lately, just "polishing" (sub-editing). Hopefully some of the other miners will have better suggestions for CAC.

Later,

Hi Jwf... I've always felt that the UG should in no way affect the CAC. I see no need for AggGag/CAC to be phased out on our account.

We do poetry, yes, but do feel free to feature it smiley - ok

And we don't exactly reject entries. They either sit around in the AWW or are selected. But I might be able to come up with a few that I liked but aren't likely to be selected...

jwf,

I think there is never to many places that can showcase good origional writing and if I thought that the Underguide was going to be the death knell for any one of them I would stop mining. I see AGG/Cac, Post and UG working together in this respect.

And I know poetry has been selected for the UG since one of my own has been entered (and has also been in the Post)

The CAC CONTINUUM - The ongoing adventures of the Committee for Alien Content (a division of AggGag)

Thank you all.

I hope kiltedjedi will take a cue from Jodan and that they each will pursue his stated intention to gather together a few entries with some suitable editorial comment and offer them up for a future AggGag/CAC issue.

All miners are encouraged to participate in these exercises whenever they are scouting the Guide for gems and discovering Aggies, anything that doesn't quite make the Underguide Front Page selection. Make a note of the A-number and add a few introductory comments. When you have enough for a page, let me know at <./>AggGag</.>/CAC.

I wouldn't otherwise suggest it but I know you will find it as rewarding as I have in the past, paying homage to up and coming writers.

peace
~jwf~ for the CAC Continuum

Good idea jwf! I'll find a few I like immediately, but Ben stole my favorite - the complete lyrics to 100 bottles of beer smiley - smiley
