Yay! I'm going to university!

I am thrilled to announce that I'm going to be a university student! I was accepted today, and next Tuesday I'll begin the long road to a B.A. in Continuing Studies at Bradford University. The course is a kind of pick'n'mix one with modules in a wide variety of subjects - one that I decided against is a class in Soap Opera In National Television! I've opted for classes in scriptwriting and counselling, as well as a module in Lifelong Learning (a class in how to study, the only compulsory component of the degree course). I'm also taking a short course in assertiveness; despite being a big bloke with multi-media broadcasting and publishing experience, I am basically pretty shy and sometimes a bit too reticent for my own good.
I'm really excited about this. When I was a teen, I was far more interested in and than in studying, so I got to college but never to university. I still love , but I think I'm much better equipped to make the most of studying opportunities now than I was in my younger days. What's more, Bradford University is already familiar ground to me because of my membership of its theatre group and regular use of its gym and swimming pool.
And as a student, I get a discount at my favourite local curry house! Hmm... I may need that gym more than ever!
Yay! I'm going to university!

Will you be getting a discount on tickets at Bradford City matches?

Congratulations! I completed my BA this spring at the age of 33 and I was nowhere near the oldest one. It's never too late. Good luck!

Thank you all!
You had me intrigued there, GD, but sadly City only give discounts to full-time students, and I'll be part-time (although I'm not doing anything else at present).
Never mind. I've already got my 2003-4 season ticket, and the 10% off I get with my NUS card at the HMV Shop will come in very handy.
Yay! I'm going to university!

Best of luck Ormy, I'm sure you'll be great even if at times it'll be tedious, daft and downright annoying as well as all the good bits in there

Soap Opera in National Television? I realise they don't want to be accused of running easy courses, but torturing students is not the answer. Oh, and how was interest in and a bar to being a student? I thought it was a prerequisite.
Well done Ormy. I hope you enjoy it.

Speaking of discounts a local supermarket is giving a 2 for 1 at the IMAX it could come in handy for the meet up.

You have to spend £30 to get a book of vouchers.

Oh dear. In that case I'll probably leave it - there's only one of me, so I don't usually spend that much on groceries! We don't know how many people are going to want to see the IMAX film on the day, and it isn't that expensive anyway.
Anyway, getting back on topic: I really enjoyed my first-ever university lecture yesterday. I think I'm going to like my scriptwriting course. The tutor seems like a guy, and the course concentrates mainly on writing for TV and film. I'm sure I'll soon be pestering the BBC with scripts!
Yay! I'm going to university!

If you need a hand finding out where to send 'em, I'm your man. Just say the word, squire, and I shall be in like flynn.
