She too is an inhabitant of Lakeland. I drop down to see her every once in awhile. Not much there, though. Just a lot of flat land, palm trees, and blue-haired old ladies.

Interesting page.

Thanks for the page compliment!

So have you ever been down here during the Fly-In?

This year I had the privelege of watching a very
dumb cessna pilot nearly total one of the two
remaining B-24's in existence.

Everybody should get to see one of those things
doing an emergency pullup just once in their life.

Apart from that, the only justification for Lakeland's
continued existence is to separate Tampa from Orlando.

Black market fish?? I have a request in with Fenchurch
for an asteroid fish; I want it to fall on people.

Ha! They've never even told me about a fly-in or anything like that! Guess they don't want me down near as often as I thought! smiley - winkeye hehehe. They should know it would interest me, since I've been an aviation/space buff since childhood. The fiends! I'll have to badger them about it, then!

PEN? What on EARTH would you want with one of those primitive gadgets? What are you, a TREE-MURDERER? Forshame and forsooth! You should stick to non-destructive ELECTRONIC means of communication! Besides, I've got all these goldfish keyboards to get rid of...

I challenged your tail -- I think he's gone. At least,
I saw him eating pizza at the 12-step group meeting.

Well, if you're into aviation, you had better make a
space on your calendar for 10 days next April. They
may even have a web site, which would be something really
obvious like sunnfunflyin, give or take an apostrophe.
Just half an hour up the road from here, Kermit Weeks
has a whole museum and art deco airfield to house his
private collection of aircraft, which includes that
aforementioned B-24.

I really am about 2 miles east of the runways, so the
noise on show days is such a RUSH!

Ewe! Kool! I'll have to check that out! You know this guy? Should I be sucking up to you so'z I can ride in the tailgunner's bubble? smiley - winkeye

I've always wanted to ride in a tailgunner's bubble, or a belly-gunner's turret. Second-best thing to flying one... hehehe. I'll definately mark it on my calendar, though. I love air-shows! smiley - smiley

Well, if it flies this year you can write and ask! I don't know Weeks personally. Apart from having to dodge the private aircraft this spring, I noticed that one of the props was feathering as he circled over my house (dig it!) during the fly-by.

My dad used to be navigator on a B-24 in the 8th Air Corps in England, so the bird is kind of special to me. I'll never forget the day two B-24's and a B-17 flew in to the airport, just passing through, carrying full maintenance crew and some warbird bunnies smiley - winkeye. I went down to see and they let us walk around. The roar when they all left was like a drug. I came home and told dad (he was on oxygen and couldn't travel), and he said, "You should have heard 60 of them warming up for take-off early in the morning."

What I REALLY want is a MUSTANG! I forget the P# (I always get those confused for some reason)- but that was the hottest plane short of a jet fighter! smiley - smiley

There's an experimental air-car (I'll find the link and post it here) that has all the flight capabilities of the mustang, along with VTOL, and it's billed as an "aircar"... It's prolly the neatest personal aircraft I've ever seen. Jetsons, here we come!

Gimmie the guys addy (e-mail or snail, no matter) and I'll see if I can suck-up enough to make my dreams come true. Mebbie I can talk him into a mock dogfight or something so he'll need tailgunners and belly-gunners. Ewee! Firing blanks for a 30-cal! Wheeee!

Mustang = P-38.

This Spring there was a meeting of Mustangs (the Stampede) at Kissimmee and then they all came here to Lakeland. Forget yer motorbike gangs. I was in my front yard with the camcorder, going nuts. I swear I have some footage with a B-17, two Mustangs and a goodyear blimp all heading west in the same frame (needless to say, at different speeds). :-0

Give me a day to locate the address for Fantasy of Flight, and be patient. Kermit Weeks is an ozzy and a flyer, so he could be ANYWHERE!

Oh, I see we have banner ads now.

Hi Fate.
Abrupt in respect to what? Is this where you meant to make this remark?

I ask because I am trying to carry on some conversations in spite of some very puzzling behaviour by the site. I can't hit "my home" at the welcome page without getting a DNS error, for example, but I can address in via the address window and get there without trouble.

Anyhow, I don't think you're abrupt. I've been to your home page and didn't find anything that would make me want to leave the room immediately.
