Let's not forget Virgil, who is undoubtedly one of the most enduring of the Ancient Poets. His epic story, the Aeneid, although sharing many of the hallmarks of Homer, was in fact a great departure from the heroic tradition in tha Aeneas is often seen as a very human character with problems that face everyone. So let's hear it for Virgil!
