Isn't the Internet Amazing !

I recently 'discovered' a latent interest of mine. It seems that I am still fascinated by puzzles.. the kind of thing that most people grow out of by the time they reach teen age. I had not mused over one of these infernal things for many years until a few weeks ago when my wife bought me one that I couldn't solve without reading the solution. This reminded me of the hours I used to spend working with my Rubiks cube etc. and then I remembered PENTOMINOES. Of course being 'online' meant that all I had to do was type 'Pentominoes' into a search engine and I was away (I suggest you try it... I was surprised how much material there was available) . I ordered some craft cubes, printed off the pattern from a page that displayed some new shapes that I didn't remember from all those years ago... and then I found an online book by Stewart Coffin, which described hunders of puzzles and also gave instructions for making them. This was all in the space of a few hours. Without the Internet I would have been searching from bookshop to library to bookshop, perhaps buying membership into 'puzzle clubs' etc. etc. and I bet it would have taken years to gather together the resources I now have .. for the cost of a phone call!
