Good Morning Mina,
I thought i would pull in to say hi and check out your home,and of course thank you for your help in getting my page reactivated.You are indeed a very pleasant friendly person.
I expect to be popping in and out of h2g2 fairly regularly for the next couple of months so i hope we get the opportunity to chat.

When is the next party...or is it always an impromtu thing?

Been a bit tardy, as the party interfered with my online life, but I don't mind. The parties are always well planned, and thought up well in advance. There are another two this summer, one in Manchester and one in Scotland, and it looks like there will be one in Holland in the Autumn.
Not always possible to be at them all though.

Love the smiley throwing a tantrum...i really must find out how to incorporate them.
I was thinking more of the online parties,i am a bit too far away to be travelling over there for the live ones...unless i was absolutely sure of course that they were really good.
Have you been to any of the live ones,i would probably feel a bit strange meeting online friends for real.

Smileys are easy. To do a smiley face, it's : ) without the space. Some are slightly more complicated, you have to write words. < wizard > without the spaces makes .
Have you got the URL to the smiley page? f not, click one of mine and you will see a huge page filled with them.

Yes, parties spring up online all of the time. You can start one on your page, on someone else's page, and announce it in your name. A trick I use sometimes is to read the birthday page and find some's birthday to celebrate. Make a lot of new friends that way.

I've been to 2 official parties, and yes, they are worth it. It is so much fun. Where are you? As we don't only have parties in London.

I am in Africa.I was born and bred in London though and have fond memories,in fact it is true to say that i will always consider myself to be a Londoner.
I think i will have to start my own little party then or gathering,I will be sure to make you my first invited guest.

Africa is pretty far. We've only had parties on 2 continents so far, although a couple of different countries in Europe.

London's great, but I am always pleased to get back to the peace of my home town in Essex.

I love it,although part of me will always be at home in london and surrounds i could not imagine life without the bush.Wildlife photography is a passion of mine.

I can't compete with your wildlife, but I am trying to build a wildlife garden. I'm visited by lots of birds, got tadpoles (f they haven't died) and frogs in the (fairly new) pond, and today I saw was what I think is either a bee's nest, or the home of a solitary bee. (Although there were two bees outside it, so I'm not sure.)
Not very many, but I have only been doing it since the beginning of summer.

Cool, it sounds like you enjoy nature as well.I also feed the birds every morning and sit and watch them while i drink my morning cuppa and wake up.I am lucky enough to have a huge selection,in fact i used to keep notes and i counted over 75 differant types form plain cape sparrows to exotics and even members of the parrot family.If i don't put fruit,bread and seed out and then i sleep in they start tapping on the window,it is quite funny actually.
I live on quite a big piece of land but when i want to (or rather when i get the chance to i go up to the bush near the borders with Mozambique ,Zimbabwe or Botswana,it is only about five hours away ,but once i am there i could be a million miles away,i completely switch off and within a couple of days am at one with the bush and the wildlife.

I have to keep the food at the bottom of the garden, as they won't come close to the house. Some brave ones do, but not often. I have a book for identfication, as I can only recognise about 3 birds. My little boy watches with me sometimes, but he prefers cartoons really.

It sounds lovely out where you live, more animals than people. Where i live it's more insects than people. (Including my neighbours )

Are you categorising the neighbours as insects....lol.....i know that feeling.
Yes i am fortunate,i live north of Johannesburg looking at the Magaliesburg mountains but the night life of joburg if i want it is just a short drive away.
Are you living near some water or something?.Why so many insects.

I'm not particularly near water, although I have a tiny pond, but I have been planting things that attract insects. And I also seem to have loads as I go rummaging through the plants, then have to pick them off my clothes. (And sometimes I even attemp to find out what they are.) I had to go outside and shoo one of my arm just now. I won't even leave it in the house. It will be food for something.

talking of insects,we have a spider over here called a rain spider,they often come out after it has rained which is not too often particularly in winter which is where we are at now.Unusual though it was we had rain about four weeks ago,while i was making some tea one morning i noticed a movement out of the corner of my eye and there was this rain spider on the wall,i kid you not,with its legs spread out it was a fair bit bigger than my hand, and i don't have the smallest hands in the world!!!.So i decided to 'shoo' myself out of the room and took my tea back to bed.

I think that sounds like a very good idea! I'm not keen on spiders, although they do good work. I wish they would stay outside though!

I've seen around the site that you're having trouble getting you Safari Party off the ground, if you haven't already, a good idea is to write a short entry on a safari, then post a few "rooms" in the message centre. For instance game room, bar (of course!), in the jeep, that sort of thing. Then tell Abi the URL, which is the address of the page. The A number is the most useful bit.
People will come along and join in, and even make their own rooms. Someone always seems to make a tent, a bedroom, and a dungeon. (looks innocent.)

If you've already got it sorted out, then sorry to stick my nose in.

Back to the wildlife... It's rained here over the last few days, and all my plants have grown another few inches seemingly overnight! After a few weeks of dry weather, I think they were thirsty.

Does that mean that it is not innocent?

Oh of course, dungeons are perfectly innocent.
Except the ones I am in.

Sounds like fun...how do i get to try out the dungeon bit...the fact i have been known to enjoy ALL forms of wildlife...
I am a bit pushed for time right now but i shall get around to doing the setup page on the safari party asap...do you think it is a good idea?
