Okay firstly the questions,
1)How long have you been caving?
Just short of five months so I'd guess you'd still call me a fresher.
2)What trips have you been taken on / helped on / led?
Okay most of the fresher stuff, I can't quite remember all the names as I said I've only been going for 5 months, but a fair variety from heron to Lancaster Main Drain.
3)Any major personality defects? (beyond the usual)
A fear of ladders, deranged and psycotic, love singing down caves (badly and very out of tune) so no; no real defects. Well apart from the ladders thing.
4)How much SRT experience?
About 5 months worth, as I said earlier I have a fear of ladders. SRT whenever possible.
5)Am I happy with e-x-p-o-s-e-d traverses, 20/50/100m pitches, derigging, rigging
Exposed traverses (is anyone happy with them) but not overly, pitches I love any size apart from the going up 100m pitches.
Rigging and Derigging I'm perfectly happy with but I'm not sure anyone else is!!!
As for how quickly I can climb a rope when closing time becons,
As fast as the next man, I suddenly become very focused.

The only reason I ask if the offer was open to anybody was for future reference really when I'm confident I can look after myself without any problems.

Regarding the original 'offer', I guess you realise from the context it was neither universally targetted, nor entirely serious, but that's not to say I have an aversion to meeting any new cavers. (I'm sure that amongst the general good crowd, you've already met the odd caver you'd rather _not_ be underground with).
I wouldn't want anyone to think I was a miserable bastard, but equally, I wouldn't want to give the impression I was handing out free invitations to Potholer's technical ropework masterclass.

Anyway - maybe see you in the Dales sometime. Drop me a line next time you're headed that way in case I'll be around at the same time. (being in the Pennine, generally I spend most of my Yorkshire evenings at the pub in Clapham.)

After realising just how much my car is costing me even when I _don't_ drive it, I'm determined to make more use of it next year, so hope to be around a reasonable amount. Also, looks like it could be a nice cold winter. I haven't been polybagging off the edge of Pen-y-ghent for absolutely _ages_.

Cave well, and may all your wading be below b*****k-depth smiley - smiley
