He wrote the screenplay for the movie adaptation, his first-ever screenplay, and it won an Oscar. Some people think in cinematic terms. I knew a screenwriter, and I asked him how easy it was to adapt a novel or story for the screen. He suggested that I submit a story to him, to see. He said that "Mr. President, Nebraska is missing" had the elements to become a fine screenplay. smiley - winkeye

Caiman raptor elk - Inside big box, thinking.

We'll see how much trauma will be included in the sequel stories. Luckily mine aren't too deep, so it should be OK.

Interesting to see how projection of firsthand experience can lead to good stories.

Yes (to Caiman) and New York City from 1890 to the 1920s was definitely a traumatic place. I find these people's stories very compelling.

I think there are two kinds of books: the ones where the authors WANT their stories to look like screenplays, and the ones where they don't. Sometimes we'd like the reader and the author to think about things together rather than see 'action' all the time.

But memories are often highly visual and arranged in scenes, which makes memoirs usually easy to turn into screenplays.
