Last update I saw was the suspects were bailed into Border Force custody. Pass the parcel with the suspects now with the story unlikely to attract much media attention except possibly a quick mention when the court verdict is announced

Ah, yes.
One bit I wasn't 100% clear about - the Convention on Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic allows the first port of call to decide that disembarkation is not possible, as the Spanish government did?

From what I can tell, the Spanish government claimed that they weren't the first port of call - as the original destination of the ship was Southampton, Southampton was the official first port of call and any deviations made before Southampton are invalid. I'll add a

So it was because the IMO guidance was open to interpretation rather than despite the guidance being open to interpretation?
