Can a picture of tomatoes compare with the real thing?
FWR Posted Sep 30, 2020
Well, I'm proud of them. Grown in my soil, by my hand, picked by me, photographed by me and cooked and eaten by me. No carbon footprint, no supermarket, no preservatives. I think they're special, for a first time effort.
And you know what? I've got three plants left to harvest then that's it til next year.... And it'll be worth the wait!
Yes it's only a photo of some tomatoes, but they're MY tomatoes, and they're special to me.
I'll keep next year's to myself. Maybe someone else will send in a photo of something they're proud of and get a better response. Maybe.

Just a reminder to the OP - while we have sympathy for you in these difficult and depressing times, the h2g2 House Rules clearly state, 'No Spitting'.

I completely share FWR's sentiments about home-grown tomatoes, even though I've never been the tomato-eater the rest of my family is.
EVERYTHING tastes better fresh from the garden: tomatoes, okra, corn, cucumber, zucchini (courgettes), bell peppers...it makes summer and fall special.
You people know what Thanksgiving is? A time of gratitude for harvest!
And be grateful, y'all - my grandmother used to have to pick her veggies with one hand on a garden hoe and one eye out for copperheads!

Late in life I developed a fondness for sweet peppers. I have pat of a fire-roasted red pepper every day with my lunch. I drink salt-free tomato sauce (I would drink tomato juice, but the evil food companies put too much sodium in it).
Key: Complain about this post
