A Conversation for It's a Sign: Keep Wirral Hell
Is Hell wet?

There we were, thinking Hell is full of fiery furnaces, when it turns out to be wet, like Wirral.
Can we have some of Wirral's rain down here in sunny Sussex, even if that means being a bit more Hellish?

I seriously doubt that the picture we've been given of Hell is accurate. Of course, there's no way to prove this one way or the other in this world.
The Bible, as most of us believe, was written in a semi-arid place where summer temperatures can be in the high 80s and 90s F. Massada, which is to the south, and in a desert region, can be as high as 110 degress F.
But once the Bible got written, and Christianity spread far beyond its point of origin, the terrors of intense heat may have been viewed differently in much colder climes in the north.
In Saint Petersburg, the average daily temps for June July and August are 69F, 73F. and 69F respectively. Winter temps are in the 20s. I suspect that people would not mind having more heat when it's this cold.

Hell was invented much later on.... And it was a funny quirk of the weather, not a photo documentary! Wirral is almost unHell like at certain times!

Yes indeed!

Apparently it does no good for a Christian to tell a Jew that he'll go to hell. If you don't believe in hell, it's not much of a threat.

Can bias be avoided? We all tend to filter reality.

Well, there's biased and then there's giving the impression that it's disease-ridden because a bacterium was once found there 20 years ago

No, I'm cool with it.
I try to wear my biases lightly, and I'm trying not to be too judgmental about those that other people have.

I actually meant the original entry was rather one sided. People tended to dwell on the run-down industrial shipbuilding town, and not the place as a whole. We're either depicted as drunken street brawlers, or snobs that live in big houses. Neither and both are actually accurate, depends on which side of the river you're from, or if you remember the Cheshire postcode!
