Thanks go to FWR for reminding me to visit this excellent landmark - I enjoyed my stay in the Viewing Gallery and enjoyed writing this Entry as well

*The highlight of a Viewing Gallery visit is of ocurse the opportunity to.....*
Typo in of course Sasha?
Personal bugbear...that old, insulting, and not very accurate link to the Wirral drives me mad, how the hell it got through peer review back then?
Oh those stairs still give my knees nightmares! Lol

O curse yes a typo in of course - well spotted! Thanks FWR
Ah, yes the tunnels Entry may be just on the side of what I would call funny, but the Wirral Entry is insulting indeed... It somehow managed to get through Peer Review in about two weeks F42120?thread=151659 without addressing the points made by the reviewer! Those were the days...
I have marked it as 'Mostly Harmless' for now

When you get past the obviously nasty remarks and read the points in the old comments, there's some really good info. People obviously easily confused with a few rundown pubs in the town centre and a geographical area that has a lot of history and beauty.
Don't get me started on the other one!

Yes, the comments contain much more helpful information - that could be a way of updating the Entry without too much trouble... I shall ponder that...

I enjoyed reading this, but I did wonder why they felt the need to build such a tall ventilation shaft? Also, is there any bicycle parking nearby and is it on a National or Regional cycle route?

I have made some tweaks to try to emphasise that they needed a ventilation shaft, but chose to make it impressive.
I checked and see St John's Shopping Centre has bicycle parking, so I added that in There looks to be a National Cycle Route that goes round rather than through the city, so I didn't mention that.

Good Entry!
I'm just surprised that they let the building go on turning while it was unoccupied and only the radio people turned it off. That must have been expensive.

Don't think it was left revolving after 85? Could be wrong, maybe it just happened to be off when I was up there? Dredging the 1980s sludge of my memories....

Thanks Tav
Good point - I have tweaked the Entry to confirm that the revolving mechanism was switched off when the building was empty For safety reasons the mechanism was locked by the radio people to make sure the studios couldn't move by accident.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
