This story has been driving me crazy ever since I started trying to untangle it a few weeks ago. You think we should know everything, but there are mysterious gaps in historical records. And the more newspaper accounts I read, the funnier it got...finally, I had to buy what I believe to be the last original copy of this book available on the interwebs...

I'd love to see this story as a movie. We could have fun casting it...

I once saw a documentary about a guy who 'blessed' cheap bottled water just by standing in front of it for a bit and then sold it for large amounts of money.

Fascinating - brought to mind a woman I read about who claimed that the secret was to live on fresh air and lemon juice. Her followers ended up very ill indeed while she retired to her secret room regularly to eat roast chicken dinners...

Just a point for House Style - after the quote in a BLOCKQUOTE you need a dash " - " before the attribution, eg "- Newology, p 6"

And just one question: in the 'Meet Him at the Fair' section "Some of the ladies" - who are "the ladies"?

Cleared that reference to 'ladies' in case people don't take up the import of the opening quotation. Like many a rogue messiah, Newi New mostly attracted female followers.
