The flap about this statue made me laugh, provided an opportunity for research, and illustrates a few points about public perception, so...oh, heck, it was just funny.
Once again, I provide the pic so that people can appreciate the story. I got it from the gsa.gov site, which is US government. The statue itself is public domain because it was produced on assignment for the federal government. God bless the Constitution and those far-sighted individuals back in 1787 who have granted us free information on the internet, from space photos to sexy statuary.

This is interesting and amusing.
I'm not sure it tells us anything much about Lincoln, although it reminds us that we should be careful about putting our leaders on pedestals!
I'm sure that, if someone wandered round London, they would find statues to people who've now been discredited, or forgotten altogether, as well as some to people who lived so long ago we don't know what they looked like.

'People who lived so long ago we don't know what they looked like' – you mean like the statue of Boadicea/Boudicca opposite the Houses of Parliament?

I'm not sure I quite understand how the title "Twitter Does History Again" relates to the Entry - is there something you can add to emphasise the 'again'ness?
Linktastic opening paragraph
That is strange about there being two James Lee Hansens, both sculptors and yet with differences... The 1925 Hansen was born in Washington but studied in Oregon?
Excellent conclusion to the Entry

I couldn't do a footnote to the title, so I put it below.

Well tweaked so this Entry is self-contained for the benefit of people who don't know Twitter very well and haven't seen the 'Twitter to the Barricades' Entry because it hasn't been promoted on facebook yet!

A very Entertaining Entry!
And as you mention it... did you know we got a rather good Entry about Greek Arts you could link to?

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
