Here is a little Entry that vaguely links in with this month's Create theme - people got more than they bargained for when they thought they found a solution to the problem of pests in agriculture...

I don't know if this has a place in your Entry, but I thought you might find it interesting, US President Lindon Banes Johnson insisted that everyone in his family had the same initials, so he gave his wife a nick-name http://www.whitehouse.gov/about-the-white-house/first-ladies/claudia-alta-taylor-lady-bird-johnson/

This is an interesting little article.
I wonder however, if it's only the arrival of the Harlequin that's responsible for the decline of the European ladybird. Didn't intensive agriculture, with its use of pesticides play a part too?
I've heard that, although both the European ladybird and the Harlequin exude a substance that can irritate the skin, the Harlequin produces more and therefore people are more likely to have an allergic reaction if they handle one.

Thanks everyone
That is an important story about Lady Bird - I enjoyed reading it.
I have mentioned a bit more about the threats affecting Ladybirds and found some more fascinating h2g2 links too, along with the link to Germany that I have added
