A very simple recipe that even I can follow and it never goes wrong.

This is an interesting recipe Entry - very informative yet concise
Ah, that is really clever about the recipe being based around the weight of the egg - that can be a challenge in eg cake recipes, where it asks for 3 eggs with x grams of butter etc, but you get very different results depending on how big the eggs are...
"In culinary respects 'Nockerl' can probably be seen as the smaller siblings of Knödel (dumplings)"
What a superb sentence! I like the flavour of this Entry very much - well done!

Thanks for this, Tav. I think you could also compare these to quenelles which are a soft dumpling, but the main ingredient is flour (I think. SF would know)
Gnocchi are spelt with an "h" otherwise it would have to be pronounced g-notchi The "h" hardens the 'c' it comes after.

Is a Quenelle a shape rather than a specific product? I was watching Masterchef last night and a chef made a Quenelle of beetroot puree using two spoons. I'm by no means an expert, though, I just like the word Quenelle

As far as I read they are indeed much like Nockerl. Can be made with different ingredients but the standard kind seems to include fish.

Ah, I see
I'm just giving this another readthrough and have a few questions:
I'm not sure I know what Strudel are - could you describe that more for me? You might like to link to A653762 Italian Cooking
What are Paprikas?
Am I right in thinking Grieß means Semolina?

'Paprikas' should probably be 'peppers' - specify what kind? Bell pepper, jalapeno pepper, chipotle, etc? If it's a specific pepper dish, please enlighten the ignorant.
And yeah, 'Strudel' probably needs explanation. Can you make Strudel that's not sweet?
I used to get really confused by a hymn the German Baptists sang about 'Mensch, im Strudel der Zeit'. They were confused by my singing it, 'Mensch, im Apfelstrudel der Zeit....'
(Strudel's a kind of dish, but it also means 'whirlpool' or 'maelstrom'.)

Paprikas is a Hungarian dish with chicken in a sauce made from bell peppers, paprika (spice), onions and tomato paste.
Strudel is basically a very thin pasta dough stretched to the size of a table top, filled with different ingredients and then rolled to a longish shape. Then it's baked in the oven.
The most famous strudel is probably apple strudel which (as you can guess) contains mainly apples, also for instance butter and cinnamon. It is often eaten with vanilla sauce. You can also put in pears or quark.
There are also many savoury strudels, yes. Strudel with different vegetables or minced meat for instance taste great with yoghurt sauce.
My aunt for instance made a wonderful Lungenstrudel (so a strudel containing veal lung) for soup.
Apfelstrudel der Zeit, I like that.
I will add some explainations.

Excellent. Do English-speaking Europeans know what 'quark' is, or will they quibble about quantum mechanics?

Quark was in a supermarket near me this weekend
I bought a small pot - I enjoyed the texture and most of the taste, but unfortunately Nestle put artificial sweetener in it so it wasn't the best... I'll see if there is a plain one next time I'm shopping

Oh, good. US readers won't know what it is, I suspect, but that's okay. I've never seen it for sale here - not even in Aldi, where we managed to snag some Lebkuchen the other day for the relatives who can eat gluten.

Yes, good explanations in the footnotes - thank you
I had heard of Apfelstrudel, but didn't realise it was pasta stretched to the size of a tabletop, so that is very informative, and makes sense about it being the savoury varieties that go in the soups
