Pretty sure there are more than two previous examples of a single reaching the UK top forty on import sales. The Jam did it twice, for example: "That's Entertainment" as mentioned in the footnote, but also "Just Who Is The Five O'Clock Hero" which actually made #8 in the UK chart in 1982 without being released here.
