Hello Benjamin, I'd tell you to get well soon, but it's not exactly something you can control. Instead, I'll wish that you make as full a recovery as possible. 
I think the last time I had any noticeable rest from being the usual work of being a carer was during scarlet fever, and the first week after it.
Even then, I had to talk Him Indoors through making an online grocery order - not easy when unable to read and running a high temperature.
As for this time off lark - if I had one free hour per week for every person who'd ever said that it was important, there'd be no problem finding a chance to take some time to relax etc. 
BTW I was shocked to read that you're only 33, I suppose that being a carer ends to put years on you.
