OK, so before I finish this off I wanted some feedback. As you can see it contains a mixture of description and recipes. I haven't added all the recipes yet. Thing is, should I add them here, or should I make two further entries on salads and cakes? Adding the salads to the entry now would not make it much longer really, but the cakes are... involved and would.

It's a wonderful bit of writing Sol.
(No wonder, when I dropped by for a coffee I found a whole lunch table before me!)
I felt aggrieved when I got to the cake description that I had no cake in the house, as you've made me crave some. They sound wonderful and I think the best way to tackle them would be in a separate, but linked Entry. Depending on the cake(s), it might be easier to write them as individual entries and we can then promote/publish them all at once, under this one, which would be the introduction.
oh and we definitely have Russian Salad here ( Ensalada Rusa) but with tuna and sometimes anchovy...
here's a photo if you're interested to see what it looks like.

TUNA!!!? You can't put FISH in it. Good god. However, otherwise, yes, that's the salad. Complete with decoration. If you do it properly, your salad looks like a cake. Must remember to say that.
Right, separate cake entry it is, and I'll see how long the salads get and decide whether to split that out too.
Problem is that the cake bit will take me some time - I need to make them again at least once more, and they really take forever, so only for real high days or when I am really bored.
Want the main bit finished off now, or wait for the cakes?
for the over feeding. I have gone native, I know.

I think we should accept what you offer, and if and when you make cake, then add them at a later date.
But you Must make cakes. They sound divine. If your family object you can blame me.
(and sorry about the tuna, it's sort of ubiquitous)

This entry brings back memories of when I was InterRailing in what used to be Yugoslavia - especially the bit about 'No guest must leave unstuffed!'
Mixing wine with vodka? Done that with red wine and Jägermeister
*carefully wraps her tongue around 'Zasdaroviya' rather than the more commonly known 'Nasdaroviya'*
OK, silly language question, but what's the difference?

And cooking the chicken on top of a bottle filled with water remind me of the currently favoured method of beer can chicken:

Personally, I'd rather write it like
host/ess
rather than
host(ess)
?

I think this will make a very interesting Entry
I would suggest you move all the recipes to linked Entries and just concentrate on what should be served here.
The title might be better as 'How to Make a Proper Russian Table', this might make the expected carpentry instructions less obvious, unless there is a point of translation that I do not understand.
I am quite interested in learning the customs of different countries and cultures. I think you have more than enough information here to tell us about what the meal should consist of, without going into detail on each recipe in the main Entry. Each important dish is certainly worth its own Entry, and will be easier for people surfing the web to find them in their search engine.
Thanks for the opportunity to comment on your always fine work.

Actually, it's coming along quite well, she says, breezily. Just putting it into peer review now...
