A tradition of h2g2 meets is a quiz, and I love playing quiz master, it makes me appear intelligent smiley - winkeye

Taking on board feedback from the last quiz though, I've a few ideas about this one.

The first is, I'm considering putting all the questions onto the quiz sheet. The venue last time got moderately loud, and my voice isn't as booming as I'd like to believe. So, do people think this is a good idea?

The second idea is about the rounds themselves. The last few quizzes I've done have tended to a round based on the radio/books/tv/film, a round based on the volunteers, a round based on peer review/new entries, etc. Do people like this sort of idea, that the quiz is based around Hitchhiker's and the site, or would they like to see a more wide spread quiz, with general sci-fi, travel, cooking, etc rounds and questions?

The third idea, yes I can't count, was around prizes. One of the main prizes last time was a very limited edition set of mini smiley canvas easels, would something similar be welcome again?

Also, any ideas for rounds would be very welcome smiley - smiley

Yeah, let's people have a chance if they don't know much about a particular topic.

So, what d'you reckon to the number of questions in each round? Ten?

100 would give me a better chance of getting one question right smiley - biggrin

But I guess 10 is okay

How long do we want the quiz to last?
How Many Rounds?

Generally 20 written questions per round is about as much as you can print on a sheet of A4 (both sides) with space for answers.

Pictures etc about 10 on both sides of an A4 Sheet.

So a mixed round with 10 written and 5 picture questions is also feasible

If it is all on question papers, I would have thought 4 rounds of about 10 minutes each.

If it all on paper it doesn't have to be all at once

Round one early in the evening,as soon as everyone is there. then the other rounds can come out at intervals.

I've been thinking about putting it all on paper, you get the "pack" when you're team is ready to start, and hand it in when you're done smiley - smiley

Lots of options

Could do the first 2 rounds aimed at everyone then mark and give scores.

Follow up with 2 more rounds for the really keen...

I like a quiz smiley - biggrin

I'm just needing to work out which trains I'll be getting, and wondered what time the quiz would be in the evening.

I'm not sure about the protocol for arriving, either - is 1pm the time after which one is 'fashionably late', as they say? Is there a workshop in the afternoon?

There won't be workshops I'm afraid.

We have the area in the bar from 1pm until close (midnight I think) so it'll be casual chat in the afternoon, with the evening do kicking off around 6pm.

I think about 7pm for the quiz?
