My second piece of field research from a recent research trip inspired by PedanticBarSteward's amazing writings in The Post.

A good article – we definitely need more on Morrocco!
I did have a question or two when reading this entry.
The first question I had was what exactly do you mean by Medina? I'm from the Isle of Wight, and to me, the Medina is the Island's principle river that flows north through the Island's capital in Newport to the Solent, dividing Cowes from East Cowes. I'm sure I've heard that used to mean a city district, but do you mean that the Medina is the old city?
You also mention the Shrines of the Seven Saints, saying it is a major and controversial West African site of pilgrimage. That sounds intriguing, and I hoped to hear more. Why is it major and controversial? Who are the Seven Saints? Is it controversial because it is a Christian shrine in a Muslim town? Or did something controversial happen there? Or is it a shrine to saints who are supposedly buried elsewhere?
Other than wanting to know more about those things, I enjoyed reading this entry.

For the saints - I don't want to replicate any of the major wikis - but I have included a footnote to say why these shrines are controversial.
The Medina (with capitals) is the geographic name of the place and it is what appears on envelopes and maps. I have adjusted the text to hopefully, make that clearer. I didn't realise the was a river of the same name in the IoW - another fact to store away about the Isle along with the locations and types of postboxes that are in use there.

hi
This is a very interesting Entry, it gives a lot of information. What I actually miss is at the start of the Entry a description of what the place looks like. There are bits and pieces about this throughout the Entry, but I never got the whole picture. What do the buildings look like? What do the streets look like? How is it all organized (dead end streets, market places etc)? In comparison to the Medina, what do the newer parts of the city look like, apart from wider streets?

Interesting point. I haven't included any information that is trivial to find using a search engine or staid, stolid and dull trip advice system. Instead I have tried to make some points that will actually be useful.
I will ponder.
