I like it. Seems fairly accurate too.

The toilets being on the 2nd floor led to me thinking I'd got back to the ground floor, walking through a door expecting to find the exit, only to be in exactly the same room where I'd said goodbye to pastey a. Minute early.

I'd agree it's an accurate and informative piece.

My gods, this place sounds excellent. I wanna go.

Good article - I was left wondering how big it is? Is it all in one room or are there seating on the other floors? (Toilets don't count as seating!)

You could possibly some references links to some of the other articles about pubs? Just a thought.

And what sort of crowd it attracts. Is it somewhere to go for a quiet drink, or a dance? Is their music, what type, or can you actually hear yourself think.

Would I feel comfortable as a single smiley - mammoth ?

>ordering a pint of keg and a pint of cask to drink while the legged beer warms up.
Probably a typo - otherwise, how would you keep your beer under control? smiley - tongueout

Verdict: I'd love to visit. In other words, well written smiley - ok

Hint or aside, depending on how you look at it: local brewery to me afaik does their brews in kegs - speciality is involving "stiff" from the local forest. Their Birch Brew with birch sap from local trees is a good one. Their IPA, which is a regular brew, was voted Denmarks best some years back.

Gnomon - time to move on

Hi Pastey!

This is great stuff!

Your second paragraph is going to be mystifying to any but the IT people, so I suggest you reword it as follows:

The relative 'artiness' of the clientele can be estimated by seeing what type of smartphone they use. On the opening night, iPhones outnumbered everything else by a factor of 5 to 1. Since then, however, the ratio is about 50% iPhones, 40% Android-based and 10% all the other sorts. This indicates that the ratio of creative types to IT types and other beer lovers has balanced out.

The cask ales on offer not just change regularly -->
The cask ales on offer not only change regularly

this pub aims to provide something unusual, yet very good on cask too. -- I don't understand this sentence. You've said "in cask" in the previous sentence and "on cask" here. Is that significant? Are you saying that the pub aims to provide something that is both unusual and good?

I'm further confused when you talk about keg and cask as if they were two different things. A keg is a pressurised metal drum, isn't it? So what's a cask?

several are around £12 or £22 mark -- this sounds odd, saying "around 12 or 22". I think it would be better as "some will set you back as much as £22.

A keg is a pressurised container, a cask isn't. I feel a foot note may be needed smiley - smiley

Maybe this should be the first in a series on the Manchester beer scene? Intrepid guide researchers, risking life and liver to drink the finest ale that Manchester has to offer?
