Entry: UPDATE: Massively Multiplayer Online RPGs - A87721725
Author: Tavaron da Quirm - Arts Editor - U1314679

This is an update for A13492640

I want to put it into the WW first to find out what people don't understand. I'm also not sure if I said everything I should.

I would say it looks good, though i would suggest some detail about average costs to purchase/pay monthly MMMORGs

There are a few spelling mistakes, but less then in most PR entries, so i'll deal with them when i get a chance

I'd say put it in PR for more comments

Are updated entries getting artwork when they're put on the FP?

Gnomon - time to move on

If the original entry already has a picture, we may use it or we may provide a new one. We certainly won't hold up the publication process waiting for a picture.

But if the original entry being updated didn't have a picture, we'll get one for the new entry and will not publish it until a picture is available.

It doesn't have a picture and I didn't have any idea for one yet. I'm not sure wether a screenshot of a specific game would be good.

You are right about the fees, I added a paragraph at the top.smiley - ok

I notice you use the word "equip" in an odd way. I don't know whether this is gamer terminology or just a mistake. In English, a player is equipped with weapons. You can't say that the weapons are equipped.

I've had to change this in numerous places in the Guild Wars entries. It would be nice to get it sorted before you put this into Peer Review. Other than that, this is ready to go.

It's definitely gamer terminology. smiley - laugh How did you change it?

Every time you said the weapon was equipped, I changed it to the player being equipped with the weapon. It means the same thing and we need to make the entry readable to a person who doesn't use the terminology all the time.

Oh, and "insinuates" is the wrong word. I know it's from the original, but you should change it.

"Insinuates" means that it makes an unpleasant suggestion, where there is nothing unpleasant intended. Use "implies" instead.

smiley - ok thanks! I really could have thought of that myself. I'll change it (hope I spot it everywhere) and then put it to PR. smiley - smiley

I will just mention that I equip weapons. It may be worth a footnote as any gamer reading the Entry might think it a but weird that you weren't talking about equipping weapons. Bad grammar it might be, but it is also normal gamer terminology. smiley - smiley

Thanks for this Vip - that is exactly why I don't comment on any game Entry - as I never play, so the terminology and scenarios are total unknowns for me.

smiley - smiley yes, thanks Vip

Unfortunately I was unable to find 'equip' in this entry, I only found 'equipment'. Maybe I'm just blind.

I think we have to write in English rather than in Gamer.

For example, this sentence out of Guild Wars 2 uses the word equipped in a way which makes the sentence very hard to understand:

"The Thief also has special weapon skills that depend on the combination of main hand and off hand weapon equipped."

I've no problem with most gamer terms because they aren't normal English words, but words like "equip" and "level" (as a verb) give problems because they mean something different from normal English.

I see what you mean Gnomon. smiley - smiley

Could you tell me where you found 'equip' please. I just don't see it.

It's good to have both types of reviewers, because that sentence reads perfectly to me. smiley - smiley It's easy to forget that jargon is sometimes even more impenetrable when it uses normal words in a different way.

I agree that using English correctly is more important as we hope to appeal to people who are not gamers as well as people who play.

That's my problem, I often don't notice when I write things that others don't understand because they make perfect sense to me.

The sentence is "These too have 'stats', which improve upon the attributes of the character who has them equipped."

You could say "the character who is equipped with them".
