Almighty God punished sin time after time again in days of old. We are told how he rained down his wrath upon many wicked cities and civilisations - eg, Sodom and Gomorrah, the Egyptians, the Hittites, etc. He has wiped out millions of citizens in more recent times too - the Black Death, the Great Plague as punishment for witchcraft and devil-worship in Europe. And need I remind people of the terrible fate of the jews in World War II?

So why do professing Christians speak anything BUT the truth in light of recent events.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the residents of New Orleans brought the wrath of God upon themselves.

Jesus Christ HATES sin. Why can the liberals not understand this? Is it any wonder God punished that city with a mighty wind in light of their festival celebrating that which is an abomination to God? They should be on their knees repenting, begging God for mercy, instead of trying to blame mortal men for their failings in their rescue effort.

Remember that Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt when she looked back upon Sodom and Gomorrah. No wonder President Bush has been reluctant to meddle in the affairs of his own City of Sin, after Almighty God has destroyed it.

Now I agree that the Lord can and has punished the wicked. However, I am not too sure about this for a few reasons. The first one is the obvious reason that (I think anyway) this happened in Bible-belt land. A lot of the people here would have been born-again Christians.

Another reason is that the Bible states 'As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live.' Ezekiel 33:11 This seems to contradict the idea that God is punishing the wicked through these disasters.

Here is a thought. In Ephesians chapter 2, it refers to Satan as 'the prince of the power of the air'. The Bible also tells us that Satan is the ruler of this world (for this time). But notice the word 'air'. Perhaps Satan can use the weather to his advantage (permitted by God of course). It would then be Satan who is killing these people. And because of events like this, people doubt God so Satan would be leading more people to Hell.

It is an interesting idea so let me know what you think.

Who was it who stated that if you tell a lie long enough eventually people will believe it? You can believe in the theory of evolution and an old earth if you wish by the fact is it is wrong.

That is because people do not seek God. They look for every alternative before God. And the word 'soon' cannot be used against the Bible because you have no idea how 'soon' Paul was talking about. And there are signs everywhere that we are living in the end times. I might start another thread on that.

I am not his personal policeman who monitors his every move. Besides, what he said was not actually racism. He said the Holocaust was God's jugdement on the Jews. Although that comes close to racism (but doesn't quite reach it) he did also say that the Jews were still the people of God, that we should pray for them and that Israel belongs to them.

I can't quite remember but aren't you of the christian persuasion that claims that your God chooses out the one's He shall offer salvation to and it doesn't matter what you do you cannot affect that choice whatsoever.

Thus my seeking God is irrelevant. I am either chosen or not.

There again I re-read Revelations last week and noted that it still said that people would be judged from the Book of Life according to what they had done. The trick is getting into the Book of Life in the first place .
