Well it does sometimes! I was recently fitted for a bra in M & S. The girl there measured me (with ill-fitting bra on!) and suggested I was a:
32C (hopeless, flattened me)
34DD (cup size too big)
36C (uncomfortable, wrong size)
I left the shop with no bra and totally confused about my bra size. I'm off to a reliable shop that I know will give me the correct measurement!

If I followed your method I would be a 34 E. I actually wear a 30HH. something tells me that the whole using a tape measure thing does not work.

Just thought I'd let you know, it's impossible to find out exactly what size you are! or at least it seems to be....
Whilst typing this I am wearing a size 32F and whilst the band on this bra is the most comfortable one i have ever had (before buying this i was in a 36C) i am spilling over the tops of the cups!
yet according to this method of measuring i should be perfectly happy in a 36B!
What is going on?
As part of an experiment on this theme i was measured at 4 different high street shops over the weekend and was told i was either a 36C, 34B or a 36B.
Help!
