My father is acting creepy and overmicromanaging me to death again. Acting highly resentful that I am being given research projects (and for once actually spending much decent time working on them) and is positively venomous that I want to go to a psychiatrist of my own choosing instead of this young female psychologist he'd rather I go to (I suspect because he's schmoozed with her enough so as to make hopping over the patient-therapist confidentiality agreement be less of a big deal).
He will not show me an ounce of respect or allow me to have my own differing opinions or attitudes towards things and is screaming at me how I have no business deciding who I may want to see or which of my own mental health issues I want to deal with in what order even though it is my own mind and my own life because I am "not a psychologist or psychiatrist". Here's the thing though,- he isn't one either, and bandying about textbook terms to silence other people and rationalize it because you figure they are insane is not the most mature course of action. Nevermind that I'm the only one in my family to have actually taken any psychology courses at the university level. I just wish he'd either go away or shut up and stop trying to derail me from my projects on purpose.

I am. And he's a bit as Internet people say, "butthurt" about it but will have to back down because since I'm over 18 he can't really force me to go to a doctor I do not wish to see. Unless I do something of a crime in which case a court could force me to see one against my will there isn't a whole lot people can do so the rest is just saber rattling.
Thanks by the way.
