Biting is sometimes good!
I'm loving the 'akin to a hangover' bit about the genetic paternal figure.
So, in summary, you've got kids you love, Pat loves you all, and you all love Pat. The kids play up, they get a slap or a hug, depending on circumstances and you hold your family together with love, respect and a bit of discipline. And then Pat rebuilds your stairs.
Do I get a degree now?

Deakie - You're brilliant. It would have taken me another 2 hours to come up with such a concise summation. You should jump straight to PH.D.
Pat and Ter(r)i has a good ring to it. Or it could be the natural brilliance in Ter(r)i's that can find the best in anyone.
