I turned around quickly as I heard the footsteps approach, but not quickly enough >Wham! Bang!< Damn. It's got me again. That slight tingle of sadness seeps into my subconscious. It's not the slight sadness of Melancholy, which I have come to enjoy when it hits, this is something meaner. I begin to run, my tennis shoes scattering the dust and pebbles at my feet. I try to dodge around the corner, but the change of direction slows me down >Wham! Bang!< The sadness surges in, and takes a tight hold on my stomach, settling there like a brass marble in the pool, weighing me down. But it's not a brass marble. It's a brass corn kernel >Wham! Bang!< Brass popcorn. The little ball of sadness blossoms, and I fall to my knees. Despair.
