Hi Tazmeister, how's you?
Two things have got me intrigued, but it's almost impossible to ask in 'Four words only'
1. Why scouts and not Guides?
2. Synchronised swimming.........erm, how'd you ever get into that?
Questions, questions.

hiya
Answers:
1. Went to Guides for four years. It sucked after a while so I joined the Scouts. Scouts rock
2. My mum found my synchro club when I was nine - I could hold my breath for quite a while so she thought I should have a go!
like I say, feel free to ask me questions!

I'm an inquisitive person, i can't help asking questions.
Ah i see, so Scouts is a bit more adventurous. I guess Guides is all about knitting and stuff?
If you can hold your breath for a long time i've got a job sorting my son's socks if you're interested.

You back already Taz? I thought you said you were off to Belgium, that was a quick visit.
Did you try the Belgian speciality of chips with mayonaise, or the famous Belgian bun ? Apart from Hercule Poirot thats about all i know about Belgium.

lol. belgium was great. went to Brugge, Gent and Bobbejaanland (theme park).
Bobby Land was great - lots of big, fast rollercoasters, right up my street!
Brugge is a really nice place. I didn't have chips with mayonaise () but i did have a belgian waffle, buchwheat pancakes and a delicious chocolate milkshake or three!

Mmmmmm Choccy milkshakes.
Glad that you had such a good time, it sounds like Belgium is a bit more exciting than i thought. I'd have to pass on the giving it laldie on the roller coaster though, specially after all those waffles and milkshake
The two youngest Airscotians are thinking of joining the scouts, it sounds like a good idea if it's that much fun. Do you think you'll carry on and be a leader when you are older?

Well, I already help out as a Young Leader at the local Beaver Scout colony. You have to pass modules and stuff to do that. It's really good - very entertaining. Also, the YL training counts towards your warrant if you ever want to become a proper leader. So I might
Encourage your kids to join! It's the best thing I ever did

I shall take your advice.
What's all this about sock monkeys, are they some sort of Scout mascot.......or a secret scout animal bred to help out during bob-a-job week
Questions, questions.
sabrielschild Posted Oct 25, 2005
hehe. I'm not entirely sure what our meaning of sock monkey is... I shall have to find out
Funny you should mention it, but we do have a mascot and it IS a monkey! He's called Monkey... original.

Interesting website !! You lot have been busy
After looking through that list of adventures and games the Airscotians are even keener to join. Taking them down to see the local leader tonight to arrange a start. I didn't recognize many of the places in Fife, but i did spot an odd person giving instructions on Synchro......in a field ,in the rain. Oh and we've seen Monkey!!!
Thought you might be interested in this place A4109500 it's for scouts on H2G2. Unconformity is one of the members, she's a pal of mine from here who's a Brownie leader.......and HER name's Laura too

As we're on the way to hosting the Olympics, perhaps we'll have to enter 'Dry Land Synchro' as a sport. I reckon Fife could pick up all three medals.
C'mon Monkey indeed.

Just taken the boys to a Firework/Halloween party and had a super time, you got anything organized ?
I see you're having a fancy dress fundraiser in November, what's the plan for that then? Does Monkey go dressed up too?
Questions, questions.
sabrielschild Posted Nov 1, 2005
Of course! Monkey goes everywhere. He has a little devil outfit that he wore for our Hallowe'en party last Friday. It was rather amusing!
We're going up to the big firework display on Pittencrief Park, Dunfermline this Friday. I don't know if you've heard of that display? It's quite famous up here for being the best in the East

airscotia-back by popular demand Posted Nov 3, 2005
I've not heard of the display you're going to, but a quick bit of googling filled in the details.(Incidently, if you put Pittencrieff fireworks into google guess who pops up as hit number 6? Good old 13th Fife ) Looks like a rather terrific display if it lasts for 20 minutes .I hope the weather is better than usual,oh, and remember to keep monkey indoors
We were up in Fife about two years ago for bonfire night, and went to a big display at St. Andrews.........it poured down for about 3 hours Nearly filled my wellies.
