I have changed "baking sheet" back to "cookie sheet" (baking tray) - because I know it as a baking tray, not baking sheet.

Added a footnote about ground flaxseed being a good vegan substitute for egg white (I had to research that, I'm not vegan or vegetarian but I admire those who are).

I love your images. The sugared pecans look delicious, even though I gave up sugar decades ago. Andy bought me a rainbow birthday cake last week. It was so sweet it made my teeth scream. Back to a sugarless existence this week (it's how I keep my weight down). I am intrigued with your sugared pecans though, especially that I could make a batch and store them in a jar at room temp. That way I could have one as and when I fancy, without feeling guilty for not eating them all when fresh, or over-indulgent if I do. I can imagine that the ancient Egyptians used to make these types of treats (maybe with dates?) for their loved ones and visiting VIPs. And entombed a jar or several with mummified royalty, for the afterlife. I like your "2 spoons if it's raining, 3 if it's not" advice - my mother would have approved.

I thoroughly approve the changes. I didn't know about that use for flaxseed. Flaxseed is something I have to avoid in my diet. It makes me wake up at 3 am screaming for no apparent reason.

That's a great idea about the snacking possibilities with sugared pecans. I do that myself.

I'm imagining the ancient Egyptians eating those sugared dates now - lying down, as their spice boxes dripped oil on their wigs...for some reason, Terry Jones is there...oh, yeah, he did that series...

In that case I'll return it to the Eds for proofreading and await its day of glory on the FP! I am sure it's going to be very popular
