I was thinking of you the other day when the most marvelous bit of machinery showed up in our lab. We got to make our own sound recordings on wax cylinders using a 1906 Edison two-speed phonograph, and I was thinking you should have been there the whole time

Talk about siesta time....for some reason, this week, our town has been nearly deserted. We spent yesterday afternoon out at the campground pool, then went over to pick up some takeaway. The restaurant parking lot was nearly empty, and I've never seen so few cars in front of Walmart during daylight hours. We got a few things in Walmart while we were waiting for our food...the checkout lady practically kidnapped us into her line. She said it had been like that all day...

I can only conclude that most of the county took vacation this week.
