I love CIA book reviews, don't you?
They're just breathtaking. So, if you've got a minute, read this one. It's a review of 'The Spy Who Seduced America: Lies and Betrayal in the Heat of the Cold War— The Judith Coplon Story', by Marcia and Thomas Mitchell. The reviewer is Hayden B Peake [no word on whether he has any 'Gormenghast' connections], curator of CIA’s Historical Intelligence Collection.
CIA. Intelligence. Oxymoron. Yeah.
Judith Coplon sounds like a piece of work, frankly. Researching a book by sleeping with spies, indeed. Why hasn't this become a movie yet? Or a soap opera...
But the FBI? Sheesh. The reviewer is outraged that the FBI didn't get a conviction. Considering how many articles of the Constitution they violated while investigating this case, it's a miracle THEY weren't arrested. The Bill of Rights exists to protect us from people like them. Thank goodness.
Anyway, if you read this review, try to count how many people Judith Coplon had relations with. And how many completely inappropriate adjectives and adverbs this reviewer uses. Calling a judge 'feeble-minded' was a good one...
An excellent find. Happy Presidents' Day!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
