drowning in your sweat
you heard there is no rest for the wicked ones
so what on earth could it be that you've done?
Look me in the eye refuse to hear me yet you claim
to speak for me and mine and your intentions are okay.
Should I trust you?

When your motives
are not mine.
4 o clock in the morning
Still the nightmares race
through your head
whipped by your conscience
tortured by regret.
They say there is no rest for the venal ones
so tell me was it worth what you have done?

It probably wasn't worth it, but will this pass and be forgotten in a few days? A friend of mine used to say, "in a hundred years, this won't matter."

I suppose I deserved that well meant but dismissive comment for being vague? 
This concerns people with a hand in a longterm problem which will affect this area for more than one generation. It matters, and the corruption, careerism, and incompetence which enables it matters. I do not say that lightly.
I can't say more than that without risking legal trouble.
