Herenna - southpaw for now

First of all, to satisfy Solnushka's curiosity (the names have been changed):
The Tale of The Clueless Cold Caller
10.15am I answered the phone. Silence. After I'd said "hello?" a couple of times a woman began speaking. "Can I speak to Mr or Mrs F Bloggs?"
"Yes." (my husband and I have first names with the same initial)
"Is that Mr or Mrs F Bloggs?"
"Yes."
"Who am I talking to?"
"Who do you want to talk to?"
"All I've got is F Bloggs, would you mind telling me your name please?"
"Mrs Freda Bloggs. Would you mind telling me who you are and why you're calling?"
"This is a courtesy call about the PFI which you took out..."
(In my sweetest chirpiest voice) "I haven't got any and never have. Now listen, take me off your list, don't call here again, and certainly don't call again before midday as my husband is very sick. Got that? Thank you. Good. Have a nice day, Byeeeee!"
"You too." (Cold caller hangs up)
....................

Random card, not as a prediction, just a reading exercise, the Seven of Rods (aka wands).
A berserker stands ready to defend himself. He's on a grassy slope, with a fire behind him, a sword in his belt and grasping an ash quarterstaff (across his body at shoulder height) with both hands. In front of him is an improvised fence of 5 ash upright staves driven into the ground and a 6th one woven through them. He's looking forwards, to his left, as if that's where an attack might come from soon. Trouble hasn't arrived yet, the sword is still sheathed, and he's unwounded.

The main meaning of this card (for me) is "hope for the best but prepare for the worst".

I am so sick of cold callers. We get several a day here it seems. They have no intention of taking us off their calling list no matter how many times I tell them to stop calling. I want to get an air horn to blow at them when they call. Of course the callers themselves aren't really responsible for what they're doing. It's just a stupid job in a bad economy. I really want to blow the air horn in the ear of the supervisor's supervisor's supervisor.

I have a display which tells me the number of the caller. If they withhold their number, I don't pick it up.m
Unfortunately there are so many different companies that call that asking the one who calls doesn't make a bit of difference. smiley - sigh

smiley - fairy

Oh! I missed this! My very own post!

Gah, that is annoying.

My particular irritant at the moment is that every time I set foot in a bank branch they call to ask for a 15 minute survey on how the experience was.

Key: Complain about this post
