Ralph the Wonder Llama and André the dodo; Excrement Occurs Posted Jan 22, 2004
Mine is just a cd, with an enhanced bit with a weblink, and some blabla from Howard Shore and the lyrics in the booklet.

didn't look as though it could sail a straight path to the havens, did it? and while we're talking about disappointments, what about the pyre of denethor? behold the fleeing fireball! it wasn't 'terrible to behold', it wasn't sombre... in fact, i was laughing my head off when he leapt out of the pyre and plunged to his death!

I wasn't. I was yelling BURN!! BURN!!! at Pippin. I hope for his sake he never tries to compete in Idols.

BURN! BURN! my friend tycho was muttering, 'the wizard leaves the battle where he's most wanted... to do what? drag faramir's ass out of the fire!' now, why didn't he simply instruct beregond to do it, instead of going to the vault himself (oops, there's no beregond in the movie, is there)? unless... it was so that his lovely silk-smooth patent-shampoo white hair wouldn't get mussed up in battle...

Yeah, he can't go around looking like some Ranger.

Hi there - back again after a loooong pause.
I've just spent the weekend watching all three extended versions on DVD and a big bunch of the Extras as well. Yeah, the film has flaws, missing tidbits and stuff like that, but I still think it holds together pretty well. In fact it is a film of truly epic proportions and I can't wait for the Mithril Collectors Edition, not yet publicly scheduled for anything, much less really publishing. But I hope they'll make it, if only to have something even greater than the Three Big Ones in Extended versions.
For those of you who have tried to watch the three films in one - I say they stick together very neatly and tell a great story. Even if the endning is a bit sappy - but then, some truce with the Book is at hand.
We lovessss it, my Love. We lovess it much!

P.S.
I had to have such a weekend-marathon, it was that or dispair, not having a midnight premiere to attend in full armour - like I did last time. (Hot costume at a cinema!)
What to wait for now? HHGTTG-The Movie perhaps? What to dress up like? A matress perhaps - also warm...

Find someone nice to share a suit with and be Zaphod.

Change suits every 2 minutes and be a Haguanennon.

But I still truly miss the opportunity to stand in line, praying to the powers that be to get tickets and then later standing in another line, freesing my b*tt off as it is nigh on midnight and a suit of paper maché armour is not the best insulator in the world and then enter a theater so stuffed that my swords should have had a seperate ticket.
The silence in the darkness, the excited atmosphere, the squirks of costumes and low, awed whispers about what's to come - all silenced as that first quiet piece of music starts playing... Even candywrappers are at a minimum and several hundred people share the experience as we follow the next chapter of the epic...
Like I said to the cinema-worker after the final film: After this - then what? Nothing will IMHO ever match it. Nothing has had this cult-following, this expectation and this attention.
and yet
- I was there...

Yeah, possibly, but my dwarven arnmour, hallbard, shield and huge sword does not fit that environment very well...
If I threw a black cape over it all, perhaps I would look a bit like a short Darth Vader?

Spray the sword with a horribly bright colour and pretend it's a lightsaber.

KimotoCat Posted Mar 15, 2005
Will do!
And then, when the next Harry Potter comes out, I'll put twigs at the one end, repaint it (again) and pretend that it's a broom and that I am lo- He Who Must Not Be Named!

That could end up being really nasty if you try to ride it.
