h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Please listen to what I'm saying here Lord Wolfden, because it's really important that I say what I have to say to you and you read it...

EV has now left h2g2.

This has been kicked off by the whole situation surrounding you, but it wasn't you who ultimately made him decide to leave the site.

What I just cannot understand is how, after being on h2g2 for just over four years, you can come along and in a few months cause the whole site to be in dissaray? I really cannot make my mind up about you; you're either extremely thick skinned and naive or you're extremely cunning and know exactly what you're doing.

I understand that the type of muscular dystrophy you have can affect your brain and how you think and interact. I'm really not trying to be cheeky or pry into your personal life, I'm just trying to understand you, that's all. Maybe I'm being cheeky in talking about this to you, but I'm just trying to think of reasons why you act and post the way you do on this site. If you're still not sure how h2g2 works, various researchers have tried to point you in the right direction and many (like me) are willing to help you out. Do you still need a hand on getting to grips with the site? Although I don't think this is your problem as you have demonstrated on many occasions that you can actually join in and use the site as it's meant to be used.

My main question though is why you do persist in pretty much ruining every thread you contribute to, take offence when people try to correct you and yikes posts you don't like, regardless of them breaking the House Rules or not? It's very frustrating that you've had posts taken off the site when in many researchers' opinions it hasn't been justifiable when time and time again you get away with disruting many once enjoyable threads.

Do you really get your kicks out of cheesing people off or do you really not realise what you're doing? It's a question we'd all like an answer to and until we do have an answer I'm afraid h2g2 just isn't going to be the same. Please think about what I've said, for the sake of the community at least.

Well, honestly. You came back to the WJH thread and gave us a real, human and - frankly - interesting account of your holiday which I enjoyed reading. And then you post that trite piece of rubbish. If you're not willing to answer fords' questions then say so, rather than trying to blag it off with an overworn aphorism.

*sigh* I had said yesterday that I was going to try and ignore you upon your return, Wolfie, but when I saw your return post (which you posted in several places, by the way) I saw you as a normal and well meaning member of the site for the first time... and then you went back to your usual nonsense.

Don't get me wrong, I'm trying to be nice here.

You see Wolfie, the problem isn't exactly you so much, it's partly to do with what you represent. h2g2 was originally just a guide, and the community grew along with the guide. For over six years, members of this site have tended to look down on your common old chat sites that you frequent, but over the past few months and years there has been an influx of researchers that are only members because of the community and who don't participate in the guide aspect at all. I used to be one of those people, but after being here for six months, I made a conscious effort to get more involved with the guide and to write entries of my own, although I'm still more focused on the community aspect of the site. There were small cracks in the community, so small that you probably wouldn't notice unless you looked. Serious researchers tended to look down on those that didn't write for the guide, and they didn't like the way the site seemed to be going.

And then you come along, and to many people you symbolised exactly what was wrong with the site. Not only were you annoying, but you spammed the place with your inane rubbish. You clearly had no idea about the guide, and you yourself admitted to not knowing what the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy even was. So you polarised people, until the cracks in the community eventually widened enough for EV, and a few others, to fall through. They had grievances already, but you made them worse. This situation that we have gotten ourselves into isn't entirely your fault, or the mob's fault, or the ACE's fault; it's everybody's fault.

But your presence here is the reason that we're in this situation. Now I'm not asking you to leave or anything like that, I'm just asking you to please listen to people; to stop doing some of your more annoying habits; to stop getting defensive when people try to help you; to stop ignoring the advice of people that have your best interests at heart. Please Wolfie, I'm quite literally on my knees begging you to listen to me.

Can't you see that this is exactly the problem? I wrote a long and well intentioned post pleading for you to do what you can to help this community which is in a crisis due to your presence, and you ignore it. Why?

And now Master B has apparently left the site too. Of course, you're not going to see that as a problem as you hate Master B, but there are those of us that are getting sick of seeing good, valuable researchers leaving this site because of an annoying, pointless person like you.

Wolfie, I was, like GB, going to give you a clean slate when you got back here, then one of your first posts which I see is a response, curt, rude and typical of your childish and immature atitude to the rest of humanity, to a post which was polite and enquiring and atempting to be helpful. I'm giving serious consideration to going back through all your posts which I can find and Yikesing any which breach the house rules, even if it takes me hours, untill you are once more on premod. You've had so very many people try to help you out with integrating yourself into h2g2 and yet you constantly throw it back in their faces. I don't dislike you, I don't really know you well enough to hate you, but if you act like this in RL I'm suprised people don't beat the $h!t€ out of you on a regular basis. Your online personality is rude, obnoxious, agrevating, childish... no make that babyish and generaly grating in a way that only summer pop songs and Cliff Richard normally atain
