I know this may be a little too specific for the guide, but I wrote it for school, and just figure I'd post it. Also, I know I might have used a little first person writing, but I don't think I used it in the way the guidlines are trying to avoid. If I am completely off track, just let me know. I am, after all, quite new at this. Oh, one last thing. This essay originally had footnotes, but I couldn't figure out how to put them in using the text format, so I just left them out becuase they weren't relevant for the essay to make sense. However, if there is, in fact, a way to include footnotes using the plain text format, I would certainly like to know.

You seem to be a really smart person, so you don't need me to tell you that this, unfortunately, is unfit for the Edited Guide, at least in its current form.

Unfortunately, around here, first person is not allowed by the Guidelines, which you already know, but intent has nothing to do with it. It's one of those "rules are rules" things.

Now, that isn't to say that the concept doesn't work for the Guide, and in fact if the Edited Guide isn't your goal, you can write anything you want. Of course, a rewriting of this entry to be unbiased and to be written in the third (and occasional second) person will help considerably in the EG direction. It is still a good read though, and you seem to be a good enough writer to push it through with a bit of work, so good luck.

This does need work to make it Edited Guide material, but I wouldn't give up on it. The problem is you assume too much knowledge on the part of the reader. Who is Sinclair? What did this have to do with Socialists (and which socialists?). It might help if you step out of the 'essay' and think about everything you know on this topic.

You can include footnotes if you learn how to do the GuideML - <./>SubEditors-GuideML</.> - and you might want to look at our <./>Writing-guidelines</.> too.

It looks like FacianeA has elvised (last posting May 9th), so I propose a move back to the entry. It seems to me there is too much opinion for someone else (with a different opinion) to successfully adapt it into a edited entry. Any seconds?
