Today in in one of my grumpy moods, or rather I wasn't earlier but am now.
This particular grumpy mood happens when I get fed up with the damn stupidity some people show.
Too many of the songs are on the radio have pretty obscene lyrics,
there is too much rubbish in some tv shows,
my sister's going on websites that... hmmm well if you look at the avatars and songs on there, it kind of seems to send bad messages which I think she picks up without realising.
My mind is clogged up with a million different little nasty things and some downright horrible stuff, that I didn't put there. I don't even want there, I never did.
This may all sound a bit silly but I feel that the mind (etc..) is similar to the body in that if you feed it too much junk, you become sluggish and generally less happy.
Also partly I'm tired and not feeling well, but I get this same frustration when I'm ok too, so it's not just a mood swing.
Phew I feel better, now!
They should do a new bbc tv serise- grumpy old teenagers.

Hi PeaceandGoodwill!
Yes, there's too much bad stuff coming at us from every angle, clogging up our minds with useless information or worse. I tend to suffer easily from information overdose, leading to complete apathy because I can't figure out what to do next... I have been living a tv-less life for more than two years now, and am quite happy with it. I can get all the information and entertainment I need, but it's not being pumped into my head when I'm not paying attention (as used to happen with my tv).

I completely agree. I find that it often helps to tidy up my flat in order to clear my mind. Also a good walk along the beach on a windy day is very helpful to blow out all the useless bits lying around...
Take care of your mind, you've only got one. As you obviously noticed, writing helps. That and talking to other people, and the realisation that you don't really need to know EVERYthing...
Take care of that mind, AND your body, and you'll be fine

Yeah the mind and body are linked in a very important way, athlets spend half their time on the body and half on the mind.

Hi Lizard King!
You're both very right.
<>
Mmmm sounds lovely.
I often wish I could go off somwhere where I could focus on getting my body and mind into good shape and working harmoniously with each other. In stead of being tired when my mind is active and vice versa (although that's always going to happen a bit.) I know it'd do me good and I think I'd be better at life that way, aswell.
Perhaps a more sensible idea would be to make my lifetyle here better, I have given up tv for short periods of time and try to eat in a healthy way etc, but I want to do more.
What often makes it harder is that I live with my lovely mother and sister, who are genarally healthy people but don't feel the same need to change their lifestyle, that I do. Which makes it that bit harder not to slip back into slobbish ways, when mum comes back from shopping with some nice junk food (along with more healthy stuff) and sis is in the other room watching one of my favourite tv programes.
And sometimes it feels, to me, as though 'society' or 'the norm'- or whatever you call the thing that supposedly has a tempalte which we're supposed to build our life around- is not really very good for us at all.
So I end up here. Moaning. Sorry about that.
And you're right Tom, my life isn't that bad, really.

Hi Peace and Goodwill!
Yes, it's a bit of a search to figure out how to do it. Life. Living.
Well, I will try to give you some good advice, advice I think is good anyway, but I must admit in advance that in general I think I'm pretty crap at living. Although that involves different aspects of life than the ones I'll give advice on, obviously.
Keeping both body and mind in good shape AND good balance is important. It is not, however, something you should be occupied with 24/7. Try to listen to your body (and your mind) and they will let you know when things are about to go wrong. I usually focus on either one, and then afterwards notice it has an effect on the other as well... really funny how they are connected. Anwyway, if you have a problem concerning the one, and you don't know how to solve it, work on the other and the problem will be solved! It's magic!!
Don't try to deny yourself life's pleasures. You may live long and healthy if you do, but it wouldn't be much fun, would it?
So have your bit of junkfood (I personally can never say no to a whopper meal from BK), or whatever tickles your fancy. Just don't have it on a weekly basis (good things get boring when you have too much of it, with one exception of course! ).
Think I've said enough for now. See what you can do with it... and please don't hesitate to ask/comment/disagree!!
All good things!
Lizard King
PS doing this has kept me from smoking yet another half hour, and now I can't be bothered anymore and the urge is gone... THANK YOU!!!

Yay! Glad to have helped a bit.
Thanks for the good advice, I will have to think about the focusing on one to help the other thing, and see how I could put it into practice.
Looking back I think, I may do that sometimes without realising: for instance I like to cook sometimes when I'm feeling a bit low, that way I have something else to focus on, food at the end, and a feeling of achivement. Interesting..
And I know what you mean about having too much of a good thing. (me, I like pizza.)Balance is a good thing to have! And it's good to be balanced about how much importance you put on it,too. If that makes sense. I guess there are really so many good things out there to try, that letting yourself get bored having the same thing over and over again is a bit silly, or lazy, or something.
Talking of looking after yourself, I should probably get to bed.
'night.
