Hmm

Over the past couple of weeks I've seen two very interesting documetery style dramas.

The first was about C.S.Lewis and his life. Now I've read the Cronicles of Nania loads of times so in a way I was already a fan. But now I really am. I knew about the whole Aslan representing Jesus thing, but I had no idea how much of himself and his belifes he put into the stories. Nor did I know how important religion and philosophy where to him. It was really fascinating.

The Second was about Winston Churchill, slightly before the Second world War started. This was fascinating too. smiley - laugh He was such a charactor, and his self-belife (or arrogance, depending on your point of veiw.) was amazing.

I actually came away quite inspired.

I like Narnia too. I was saying on the Narnia film thread that it always annoyed me that Susan 'lost faith', becasue I always liked Susan, and more so after the film. We don't even find out what happens to her when the others all die and go to 'heaven'. A biut harsh, don't you think? She's left behind with no family left.

Hmm

hmmm yes very harsh. What was supposed to have happened to Susan, was she on the train too, or not there at all? I can't remember.

I wonder why Lewis put that in...
I did notice in the documentry, that he seemed to have been through some of the things his charactors went through: when he was a boy he used to play in the attic and his mother was ill much like Diggory in the Magicians nephew. I wonder if Susan's lost faith was prompted by something that happened in his life?

Still harsh though.

I don't think she was on the train. If so, she would have been with her parents, surely, when Peter and the others see them from 'heaven' Narnia?

Maybe he was trying to say that non-believers go to hell?

Have you seen the film?

Hmm

Well from the documentry I gathered that at one point he prided himself on being an atheist, and that it was a long and hard journey before he finally gave in and accepted that 'God was God.' So I wondered if that part of his life had influenced the way he wrote Susan. But thinking about it that sounded more like Edmund.

smiley - blush I really am rambling today aren't I.

Yes I saw the film, and enjoyed it too. I liked the special effects and the choice of actors.smiley - biggrin

smiley - erm Besides anythings better than that cartoon version that keeps popping up.

Same, and I quite like A Horse and His Boy too, probably becasue it shows the Pevensie's grown up.

Hmm

Oh yes, that one was good.I think the Last Battle was a bit sad though, but then I guess it was supposed to be.

Do you think there'll be more films coming out?

C.S.Lewis and Winston Churchill

Post 12

Definetely. It made loads of money, and I heard that a script for Prince Caspian is written / being written. smiley - smiley

Strange, they can't be making them in order then. Still it should be good if this one's anything to go by.

I've been trying to remember who the beavers were played by... I think Mrs beaver was Dawn French, but I could be wrong.smiley - smiley

I think it was, yes. And Mr Beaver was Ray Winstone.

Hmm

I wonder why they cast them...

For some reason they don't seem how I imagined them, but I can't put my finger on why. I think a similar thing each time I see a new Harry Potter film too.
