is on this weekend. Lots of opportunities to visit places which are normally closed to the public. Took advantage of still being on holiday yesterday to go and see two college libraries: Christ's (which has a big model of The Beagle, Darwin being one of their famous alumni), and Corpus Christi. The Parker Library at Corpus is in a lovely (18th century?) room, and they had *all* their fabulous manuscripts on display - a fantastic collection, from 12th century onwards, most of them in tiptop condition. Lovely!

This afternoon there is Dragon Boat racing on the Cam, but as it's currently pouring with rain, I don't think I'll be cycling out to Fen Ditton to watch, as planned.

Tomorrow I'm doing the Bridge the Gap walk: http://www.bridgethegapwalk.org/site/

Annie, maybe I'll come down into town tomorrow after church, then.

I am a Friend of Christ's College Old Library, so I can strongly recommend a visit there. Oh dear, I've just realised how bizarre that must sound.

Do we live IRL in the same city? Not a spot of rain here yet. Gneed it urgently here for my roses - gnow!

Hi Squigs! Don't think the libraries etc are open tomorrow - have a look at the Open Cambridge website to check: http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/opencambridge/

I'm going on the Bridge the Gap walk tomorrow: 5-mile charity walk, going through 10 colleges.

After the heavy shower at about 12, it cleared up and afternoon has been sunny. I'd already decided by then not to try and cycle to Fen Ditton for the Dragon Boats (not wanting to get drenched halfway across Stourbridge Common), so went to a friend's house instead, and have spent a pleasant afternoon chatting and drinking Cava in her garden.

Bridge the Gap walk was great, and the sun shone all the time! (It's now shining through my living room windows, showing how dirty they are, but the window-cleaner didn't turn up on Friday).

The walk started and finished on Jesus Green, and went through various colleges and University buildings: Magdalene, John's, Clare, Corpus, Catz, Darwin, Pembroke, the Polar Museum, Downing, Christ's, the Union and Jesus. My friend and I stopped after the Cambridge Union (very interesting, I hadn't been in there before) and went for a drink at the Maypole before heading off home.

I was planning to go and book my tickets for the Film Festival this afternoon but my feet decided they'd had enough, so I'll probably go on the way home from work tomorrow.

It will be strange going back to the office tomorrow - this holiday has felt much longer than a week!
