As I continue with my new strict way of making myself write for at least half an hour everyday, I have begun to realise how important it is to first complete an excersise which allows the writer to enter that creative 'zone'. We all lead such busy lives that it can sometimes be very difficult to switch between or another. There are many different excerises that you can do but one of the easiest and quickest is one that I was shown on my course called 'Hotpenning'. Basically, all you have to do is free your mind and write ... yes, that's it but you mustn't say NO to any thoughts or feelings and must go with the first words that go into your head and keep writing for five minutes or so without thinking about the craft.
I have lots of history coursework still to do and the deadline is tomorrow so it looks like my finishing touches are going to be a 5:30am job (as usual.) Not that I really mind, it's just the thought of it. Oh well, I'm off to hotpen and write for a little before settling to sleep.

TW, I'm so pleased to see that you're starting a journal in here. I tend to be a bit lazy about mine and only write once a week or so, but it is a fascinating glimpse into other people's lives.
