We have just had some friends round. The purpose of the visit was to sign cheques. Some of us (not Douglas)are going to Spain for the eclipse in October. I am not obsessive about eclipses but also went (in 1999)to France to view one. The venue is set, others book hotels/flights/accommodation, "I pays me money and goes". Eclipse food and drink are the orders of the day. The people I will travel with I have known for twenty five years so no surprises there. Douglas dislikes traveling.
The four of us drank two bottles of wine and ate a half-carrot cake, bread, cheese and olives.
I have the shop orders to send off tonight. Douglas has to hoover, again. Elsa has to be tempted from under the bedsprings, more people and the doorbell being too much for an apprehensive feline.

What a lovely party! By contrast, I have been in all this sunny and lovely afternoon watching the mayhem in The Bull. (Don't ask...)
May have another bottle of Italian Red this evening.

Today's happenings in The Bull only serve to confirm a long held suspicion on our part.

PS I am going to check if I/we can manage Edinburgh

The Bull is very depressing today (esp as I went to Cromford) and seems to be getting worse as the evening progresses. Some people get their fun in very strange ways.
I enjoy eclipses - I've seen several lunar eclipses but only one solar eclipse (a partial one) when I was about 10 and living in Australia. There are some great family photos of us projecting pictures of the eclipse onto our t-shirts (through pinholes?).
Missed the one in the UK a few years ago - managed to be on holiday in the US at the time I think.

I get sent to eclipses. Douglas sees it as a way of getting me out of the house. Douglas has already made a date with Peet for when I am away (film, alcohol, chinese meal, alcohol cairry-oot).
