How do I get those smiley's from down there?

I tried to get a smley in my first journal entry. I right-clicked on one of the bunch below the text window and chose copy, but when I went back into the window couldn't choose Paste. But somehow got a smiley to appear where I wanted!!
Then couldn't repeat the trick.
Help??

When you post to a journal or any other conversation thread, just clicking on the smileys below the text entry box auto-inserts the code for the smiley. You can then select and copy that code from the text box, merely memorise it to type yourself next time or click on that smiley or another again.

I'm one of those who memorised them - or at least the ones I thought I was likely to use. 
Plus I keep an off-site reference list.

You can always right-click on any smiley, and choose 'open in new page'. Then you get the complete list to search for a nice one.
