Out of interest, what is the 'mod' smiley meant to be?

The 
(mod) smiley was created by Wotchit (U197053), one of the Community Artists. It looks like a target to hit to me.
However, the "yikes" button for summoning the moderators to a conversation posting is different in the various h2g2 skins and not the same graphic as the Smiley.

The mod roundel is the symbol of the Mods as in 'Mods and Rockers'. It's a sixties thing. It's nothing whatsoever to do with the moderators who check our posts for compliance with the House Rules.
