Proximity of Underground/Overground Stations to Ye Old London

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

As my knowledge of London geography doesn't extend much beyond the record shops in Camden and Soho I need to know what the nearest stations are to Ye Old London as Mrs. D and myself will be going home on the Saturday night (lack of finances means we can't stay in London overnight).

Done a bit of poking around on multimap... I never realised St Pauls was so close to Oxford Street! That makes things a lot easier as my personal method of navigating London is that if I can find Oxford Street on foot I know where I am. Now I just need to look at train times.

St Pauls is an underground station on the Central line. Which train station will you be coming into London through?

If you come out of St Paul's underground and walk around the cathedral that puts you on Ludgate Hill where the pub is. It is on the right-hand side of the road as you walk down from the cathedral.

Just looked at the train times and the best station to go back from is Paddington as it's the only one that takes less than three hours and there's only one change...

Looking at the tube thing it seems that I'll have to use either Farringdon or Black Friar's to get to Paddington for the return journey. Actually getting to Ye Old London should be quite a leisurely affair as we'll be arriving in London in the morning so we can go to Camden and buy stuff.

Gnomon - time to move on

It's also close to Blackfriars Underground station, but the station itself is a bit of maze. You have to find the exit for New Bridge Street, and go along it until you reach Ludgate Hill. Turn right onto Ludgate Hill and the pub is on the left side of the road.

Looks like we can get away with spending most of the day in Camden... it's only about 15 minutes away by tube, and if we end up on Oxford Street (as we usually do) it looks like quite an easy walk.

The pub is nearest I think to the Thames link train doobry thinggy, we got off the train wondered out the station and were going 'I wonder what way the pub is', and then we realised we were practically in front of it smiley - doh
