It would be helpful if you gave the anems of some progressive metal bands

Also, you kinda left out the prime example of Progressive rock... King Crimson. Plus, a lot of people consider Pink Floyd to be more space-rock/psychedellic rock... of course, most people haven't heard any Pink Floyd before Dark Side of the Moon.

Dont really know...the only songs I know are money, um, dont know the title, but the one with the we dont need no education chorus, hey you, comfortably numb. And those are prob all after dark side of the moon or whatever.

Yeah, that's all the older s**t. There's nothing wrong with it... it's just NOTHING in comparison to early stuff.

Albums would be stuff like Adam Heart Mother, Animals, Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Meddle, and Ummagumma. For good songs, check out Interstellar Overdrive, Astronomy Domine, Lucifer Sam, Pigs on the Wing, Echoes, One of these Days, and the one with the greatest Rock scream ever: Careful With That Axe, Eugene. Hope that helps ya!

What is space rock?
I personnally thought Pink Floyd is progressive, but not I defined it.

Its sort of psychedelic-ish spacey rock music. Listen to hawkwind. They are the kings of space rock.

Pink Floyd are not Space Rock per se. During a fabulous career, they spanned more than that one genre; psychedelic rock, progressive rock and symphonic rock to name just a few. Hawkwind are a fine example of space rock and nothing like the majority of Floyd output at all. Don't forget the Ozric Tentacles - Hawkwind may have been the kings at one time but the Ozrics have succeeded them and how!
