Hi again Reefgirl. I have a question (or two). It may sound silly, but I have been looking around to see how you include footnotes in your articles, and I can't find any info on the subject. How do I do it?
Also - is it ok to quote/reference things from books as long as a proper reference and citation is given? I am thinking of quotes of a few lines, like in an academic essay.
Thanks in advance!

I thjis a guide entry you're writing, then adding footnotes is easy have a look at this, this will explain everything http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/GuideML-FOOTNOTE
As for using quotes, I will have to ask the Italics (they're the editors) I think it's ok as long as you give the proper credit but I will clarify it with the Italics first and let you know

Hi there, I've got you answer fro Natalie, this is what she wrote back
"Hello Coral,
This is a good question - it is fine to quote things - however, this
should always be done as sparsely as possible. This isn't done
purely due to copyright infringement (it's a bit of a grey area, the
point at which regurgitated text infringes copyright) but also
because, as in an academic essay, quotes should really be used to
help illustrate a point alongside the analysis provided by the
author, rather than just standing on its own.
I hope that made sense!
Natalie"
Hope this helps
